Mortgage professional Dennis M. Santiago recently joined Mason-McDuffie Mortgage to manage its new office at 99 Aupuni St., Suite 180, in Hilo.
The office is part of a three-branch expansion for the California-based mortgage firm. New offices also opened in Lahaina and Kihei on Maui. The company has operated a Honolulu branch since 2008.
During his 18 years in the mortgage industry, Santiago has worked for a number of firms, including managing branches for Guild Mortgage and GMAC Mortgage. He was a senior loan officer at American Savings Bank.
His greatest strengths include his love for teaching and talking about loans and the lending process. He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with an electrical science degree. He continued his professional education with certifications in finance and mortgage lending, while completing numerous courses in business and finance.
Santiago lives in Mountain View with his wife and their cow. He is a member of the Puna Professional BNI Group, Hilo and Kona Board of Realtors and has served as the education coordinator of the Puna Professional BNI Group. He also has volunteered for the Surf Rider Foundation.
