The residents at Life Care Center of Hilo were once again visited by the special volunteer angels at AARP.

The residents at Life Care Center of Hilo were once again visited by the special volunteer angels at AARP.

State Coordinator Lucy Maloney and Local Site Coordinator Helen Hurd arranged for the AARP IRS Tax Aid Program to help prepare tax forms for the Residents.

These volunteers worked hard to complete 100 tax returns for Life Care Residents who need assistance.

AARP volunteers help assist with taxes for the elderly at many locations across the state annually and have done so for more than 35 years.

Every year, the AARP volunteers have to take classes to learn the new information about taxes so they can provide this much needed service for the elderly in the community and at Life Care.

If AARP did not do this service, many community and nursing facility members on the Island of Hawaii would not be able to get their taxes completed, said spokeswoman Chris Ridley.
