Born in Pahala, he was a retired cultivation clerk for the former Hawaiian Agricultural Company and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II with Company A &F, 100th Infantry Battalion, was a member of the 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans Hawaii Chapter, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #6 and recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal and Purple Heart.
