El Leo the Jarican Express will celebrate the release of the band’s new CD, “Kachi Kachi — Latin Music from Hawaii” Saturday 6-9 p.m. at Lava Shack in Pahoa.

It’s the second CD and the first in more than a dozen years by El Leo, which includes: Charles Bargas on vocals, bass, cuatro, guitar and percussion; Jeannie Bargas on vocals and percussion; Russell Ruderman on vocals and guitar; John Acasia on vocals and percussion; Henry Acasia on vocals, guitar and percussion; and Johnavan Acasia on bass.

The 16-track CD, produced by Ruderman and Charles Bargas, includes eight original songs — six penned by Bargas and two by Ruderman. They include “We’re from Hilo,” “Nanakuli Train” and the catchy instrumental “Charlie’s Special.” Three of the tracks are bonus material from the band’s first CD, which includes Bargas’ “La Bourinque Rap.”

Classic covers include “Bésame Mucho” and “Love Me With All Your Heart”/”Cuando Caliente El Sol.”

Admission is $5 and CDs will be available.
