On Saturday, May 31, everyone is invited to the Hilo Hawaii Stake Family History Library at 1373 Kilauea Ave., where volunteers will host their fourth annual Genealogy Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with registration to begin at 7:30 a.m.

Free public workshops will include “Online and In Print Collections” by archivist Helen Wong-Smith, a former University of Hawaii librarian; “The Art of Ho‘oponopono” with Reuben Pukahi and Aloha Bezilla; “Japanese Character (Kanji) Translation” with White Eagle Arai; “Discussion on Portuguese, Filipino &Puerto Rican Genealogy” by Dan Nelson, president of the Portuguese Society on Oahu; “Discussion on Nigerian Genealogy” with African-born Franca Pinkney; “Understanding Family Search &Family Tree Programs” with LDS member Kerry Petersen from Keaau; “Learning to Preserve Photos and Stories on Family Search Family Tree” with duo team Wanda and Patrick Cardines; “Researching Outside of the Box” by former Family History Director Stan Barcarse; and Kumu Kimo Awai from Keaukaha Elementary School speaking on “Hawaiian and Ahuna Family Genealogy.”
Concluding speakers will be Kona Hawaii Temple President Boyd Mossman and Temple Matron Maile Mossman. Sister Mossman will share one of two films done by the LDS Church’s Audio Visual department titled “Searching for Emma.”
The genealogy library will also be open to do personal genealogy research, with consultants available to assist.
Registration is available at the library between 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
