A 44-year-old Hilo man reported that an unknown man punched him and took his backpack at approximately 8:40 p.m.
The suspect was described as a local male, 5-foot-7, 150 pounds wearing slippers and unknown clothing. He was last seen heading south on Lihiwai Street in what may have been a dark blue older-model Honda CRV.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 935-3311. Those who prefer anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
