The float from the members of Halau Na Pua O Uluhaimalama won first place in the April 26 Merrie Monarch Festival Royal Parade in Hilo, followed in ranking by entries created by volunteers from Hawaii Community College and then the folks from Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko.

In the traditional mounted pa‘u division, Laurie Lewis of the Kauai unit won the “Outstanding Princess” title, followed by Jessica Kunishige of Niihau, then Kate Deffeback of Lanai.

“Outstanding Pa‘u Unit” honors went to the Niihau Island unit, followed by the Kauai riders, then the group representing the Island of Kahoolawe.

In the “Pooper Scooper” bracket, Niihau finished first, followed by Kauai, then the Kahoolawe unit.
