Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and the members of the Friends of the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens invite the community to “Celebrate Mom” at their 16th annual plant sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, May 4.

All kinds of plants and flowers will be for sale. There also will be a demonstration by members of the Hilo Orchid Society and a fruit-fly booth by members of the University of Hawaii Master Gardeners program. And there will be snacks and fun for the whole family.

The plant sale will be set up right outside the zoo, at the circle at the entrance to the Panaewa Equestrian Center.

“Everyone is invited to stop by and pick out something special for Mom for her special day,” said Friends spokeswoman Nina Bremer.
