Bruce Edward Bowen, 50 of Greenville, Ill., died March 7 in St. Louis. Born in Washington, D.C., he was a member of Critical Care Transport Team at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and graduated from Hilo High School. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Malia Puka O Kalani Church, 326 Desha Ave., Hilo. Visitation at 3 p.m. Survived by parents, John and Anne Bowen of Hilo; wife, Christine Bowen of Illinois; sons, Jace and Corey of Illinois; daughter, Lauren of Illinois; sisters, Maureen Figueira and Denise Marjarum of Pennsylvania; one grandson.

Burton Ryan Salas, 24, of Wailuku, Maui, died April 9. Born in Hilo, he was a Maui Community Correctional Center adult corrections officer. Rita Helen Sarme, 74, of Papaikou died Saturday at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker, U.S. Army, Women’s Army Corps veteran, member of the Papaikou Babes Softball team and volunteer at Kalanianaole School Library.
