Prosper Quentin Tomich, 93, of Honokaa died March 11 at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Orange Vale, Calif., he was an animal ecologist for the state Department of Health, a U.S. Navy veteran, a farmer, an avid telephone insulator collector, a member and volunteer with Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Hamakua District Development Council, the Hamakua Humanities Project, the Conservation Council for Hawaii, the State Natural Area Reserves Commission, and was a founding member of the North Hawaii Community Hospital board of directors. Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. April 26 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Mass and celebration of life at 10 a.m. Casual attire.
