The Honolulu Theatre for Youth will present “Peter Rabbit and the Garden,” a special stage production of the Peter Rabbit story, at five Neighbor Island public libraries from April 17-May 6. The Friends of the Library of Hawaii is sponsoring these free programs.

Big Island performances will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hilo Public Library (933-8888); 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at North Kohala Public Library (889-6655); and 3 p.m. again that day at the Kailua-Kona Public Library (327-4327).

“This interactive version is designed specifically for preschoolers and will explore the fine line between curiosity and responsibility.,” said Paul Mark, spokesman for the Hawaii State Public Library System. “Peter Rabbit loves eating vegetables more than anything, but can this impulsive rabbit learn some manners before he gets into big trouble?”

The 30-minute performance is suitable for ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Contact the hosting library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed, or for more information. Visit www.librarieshawaii.org.
