Take your doodling to a higher plane with the fascinating new art form, Zentangle.

Take your doodling to a higher plane with the fascinating new art form, Zentangle.

Described as a meditation that increases the awareness of patterns in the environment and within yourself, Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, fun way to create images by drawing structured patterns. For people convinced they cannot draw, Zentangle removes barriers. For those who consider themselves artists, Zentangle removes blocks.

The Volcano Art Center will present two Zentangle workshops. “Zentangle: The Basics” will be offered 10 a.m.-1 p.m. today on the VAC Niaulani Campus. “Advanced Zentangle: White on Black” will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the same location.

Both workshops are taught by Julie Evans and Lois and Earl Stokes, the state’s only certified Zentangle teachers. and will be hosted in Hale Ho‘omana, VAC’s education building. Cost for each workshop is $45. Advance registration is required. Visit www.volcanoartcenter.org or call 967-8222 for more information or to register.
