Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hawaii recently welcomed Toni Muranaka as the new state executive director.
Muranaka most recently worked as the executive director for Kaho‘omiki: Aloha State Games, where she oversaw and managed the Great Aloha Keiki Run and Senior Olympics. She has also worked at the American Heart Association of Hawaii as the senior director of the Heart Walk and the Youth Market and at Castle Medical Center as an office manager.
Muranaka will provide leadership and vision for the Hawaii Chapter of MADD. Her responsibilities include staff and advisory board development, fiscal management, fundraising, government and foundation grant relations, and the delivery of high quality program initiatives.
“We are excited to welcome Toni to MADD Hawaii,” said Carol McNamee, MADD Hawaii’s founder. “Toni has more than 23 years working with nonprofits, 15 of which were in management and understands the ins and outs of fundraising, implementing and supporting existing programs and the development of new programs. We feel confident that Toni will be able to fulfill MADD’s mission through the development of a statewide strategic plan and implementation of core services and programs.”
“I am looking forward to working with community leaders in both the public and private sectors, law enforcement officers, community volunteers, and our strong Advisory Board members to help shape the future of MADD Hawaii and put an end to drunk driving,” Muranaka said. “Crashes related to drunk driving are 100 percent avoidable. I am committed to making Hawaii’s roads safer.”
MADD Hawaii will celebrate 30 years of accomplishments for the state this year.
Events throughout the year will highlight the anniversary and serve as a call to action for the community to continue helping MADD stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
