“LandEscapes” is Peter Jefferson’s newest show featuring the dramatic landscapes of Kohala.

“LandEscapes” is Peter Jefferson’s newest show featuring the dramatic landscapes of Kohala.

The show will be on display for the month of April and can be viewed at The Living Arts Gallery, 55-3435 Akoni Pule Highway, Hawi.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception 3-6 p.m. Saturday, and to meet with the artist.

“The Big Island is the perfect escape. scenery both dazzles and amazes all her spectators,” said Jefferson, a watercolor artist living in Kohala, where he leads the Kohala Plein Air artists. “Plein air artists experience this beauty first hand. Setting paint to paper is a thrill, refocusing the scene through the lens of the artist’s eye.”

Jefferson also paints with The Village Artists at Mauna Lani and West Hawaii Watercolors in Kailua-Kona with Greg Schultz.

When not painting, he can be found swimming with the Kona Aquatics or golfing the Big Island.

Other selected works will include hula dancers from the Beamer-Solomon Halau in Waimea, whose dancers have performed for more than 150 years. Enjoy the exquisite outfits and striking poses of this halau captured in the moment.
