Hilo Trollers Fishing Club has scheduled new tournament dates for the 2014 season. The tournaments generally run on the first Sunday of the month, May through October, but there have been some adjustments.
The official dates are: May 4, June 1, July 13, Aug. 3, Sept. 7 and Oct. 5.
If small craft advisories are posted by the 6 p.m. East Big Island NOAA marine forecast on the Saturday before the tournament or any time thereafter, the tournament will be postponed until the following Sunday. Safety comes first, a spokesman said. This year’s tournament control will run on VHF with CB as backup.
The Trollers have scheduled a general membership meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday April 15 in Wailoa Pavilion 1. The incoming Trollers President is Jared Miyake and the Vice President Randal Yoneda. Updated tournament rules, membership forms, and entry forms will be available at that meeting. They will also be available at the two tackle stores that generously support the Trollers: J. Hara Store and S. Tokunaga Store.
