Back by popular demand, the Volcano Art Center will present “Process Painting — Spirit of Creativity” with Patricia Hoban from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday at its Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village.
“Embark on a journey that encourages you to experiment, explore, discover and play through painting,” said Hoban. “Every one of us has creativity locked up inside, but we often have difficulty gaining access to that creativity.
“Process Painting helps us find and bring forth our true selves. And in so doing, we build pathways through which our creative energy can flow. In this workshop, we silence the internal critic and throw away the rule book about how we ‘should’ paint. Paper, brushes and a rich array of paint colors will help you access your creative self.”
Hoban has a degree in fine arts and education. She has a master’s in pastoral studies from Seattle University for her work as a prison chaplain. She studied Process Painting at the Center for Creative Exploration in San Francisco, and has been facilitating Process Painting workshops since 2005.
No previous art education or painting experience is necessary to plunge into Process Painting. Cost is $50. The workshop will take place in Hale Ho‘omana, VAC’s education building.
Please bring lunch and drinks, and wear painting clothes.
