Cindy Mitsuko Kaku, 55, died Feb. 13 at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Wahiawa, she was a retired secretary for KBIG FM Radio Station and a member of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Hilo. Private services were held. Survived by companion Garry Masu of Hilo; son Brandon Kaku of Hilo; daughter Kelsey Kaku of Hilo; brothers Kevin Iwasaki of Oahu and Ross Iwasaki of Oahu; sister Jan Asato of Oahu; sister-in-law Yvonne Iwasaki of Maui; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary, Inc.

Tsuyoshi “Nick” Nishimoto, 85, died Jan. 30 in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Army Staff Sergeant who served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, a member of the 35th Infantry and a former Korean War POW, and a retired produce manager from Safeway. Services will be March 21 at Hosoi Mortuary in Honolulu. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Service 10-11 am. Inurnment to follow at Punchbowl National Cemetary at 1 pm. Survived by brother Ronald (Mae)Nishimoto of Honolulu, daughters Mary Beth Boushell of Pahoa, Maria Boushell of Keaau, and Ruth (Bill) Watkins of Mountain View; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Visitation from 5-9 p.m. Wake services at 6 p.m. Friends may also call Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Visitation at 8 a.m. Celebration of Mass at 10 a.m.
