The Warriors (20-10, 9-7 Big West) were 24 of 34 from the line — 15 of 18 in the final 4:01.
Garrett Nevels drilled a 3-pointer and Christian Standhardinger added the first of two free throws as Hawaii fashioned a nine-point lead at the half, 44-35.
The Titans battled back to take the lead at 65-64, but Standhardinger started the run of free throws by hitting a pair to put Hawaii in the lead for good, 66-65.
Isaac Fotu finished with 18 points to lead Hawaii, with Standhardinger adding 17. Shamberger added 14 points, all from the free-throw line.
Marquis Horne had 18 points to lead the Titans (11-19, 6-10), with Michael Williams and Josh Gentry each adding 17.
Fourth-seeded UH faces No. 5 Cal State Northridge at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big West tournament in Anaheim, Calif. The Rainbow Warriors and Matadors split two games this season, with each winning at home.
Sydney Haydel was only player for UH (16-12, 10-6 Big West) to reach double figures with 10 points. Leading scorer Kamilah Jackson missed her sixth straight game with a foot injury.
Hawaii will remain in Southern California for the Big West Tournament. As the third seed, the Wahine get a bye heading into a 3 p.m. HST game Wednesday.
The Titans (12-17, 8-8), the No. 7 seed, ended the first half with a 17-2 run to lead 31-16. Chante Miles led all scorers with 24 points.
Baseball
Scott Squier threw a two-hitter and UH evened its series with a 6-2 victory against Texas before the second game of a doubleheader was postponed by rain in Austin, Texas.
Kaeo Aliviado and Jordan Richartz delivered run-scoring singles during a three-run second inning, and UH (7-7) added three more in the third as the Longhorns (11-4) made two errors.
In seven innings, Squier (2-0) walked four and struck out two, retiring the final seven batters.
The second game was tied 2-2 through seven innings and will resume at 8 a.m. HST today before the series finale.
Softball
Sarina Jaramillo ripped a three-run home run to back Loie Kesterson’s four-hitter, and the Rainbow Wahine beat California 6-2, splitting two games at the Jack in the Box Spring Fling Tournament in Honolulu.
In the evening, Pacific downed UH 4-2.
Jaramillo’s blast was the middle infielder’s first of the season and capped a six-run third inning.
Kesterson (5-2) struck out two and walked two, while Keiki Carlos and Leisha Li’ili’i each finished 2 for 3.
Carlos (0-2) was the losing pitcher in going the distance against the Tigers (7-11), yielding 11 hits — including Nicole Zapotoczny’s solo home run — and two walks with no strikeouts.
Carlos had two hits and an RBI single for Hawaii (11-9). Jazmine Zamora and Ulu Matagiese also has two hits.
Beach volleyball
Brittany Tiegs and Karissa Cook claimed an all-UH final at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Waikiki.
All five of the Wahine’s tandems reached the quarterfinals of the five-school tournament, including the No. 5 pair of Karlee Riggs and Hannah Rooks, who upset Long Beach’s top squad 32-30, 13-21, 23-21.
Tiegs and Cook handled a Long Beach State duo 27-25, 21-17 in the semifinals, then beat teammates Katie Spieler/Nikki Taylor 21-14, 21-19 for the title
Water polo
Chloe Barr totaled six goals as the Rainbow Wahine ran their winning streak to five with a pair of victories at the Claremont (Calif.) Convergence.
No. 13 UH (11-4) received goals from seven different players, including two apiece by Danielle Lewis and Barr, in a 9-6 victory against No. 11 UC San Diego.
Earlier, Hawaii dumped Occidental 18-5. Mady West added hat trick.
