A Hilo Circuit Court judge put Hawaii County’s registration program for genetically modified crops on hold Friday.

Judge Greg Nakamura granted the temporary restraining order in favor of John Doe, an unnamed plaintiff, who filed a lawsuit challenging the registration requirement.

A motion for preliminary injunction will be held considered March 24.
