Konawaena High School defeated Waiakea 57-54 in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation boys Division I basketball playoffs championship game Saturday night at Hilo Civic.
Both the Wildcats, shown above with their championship medals, and runner-up Warriors will compete in this week’s state D-I tournament in Honolulu. The 12-team event runs Wednesday through Saturday.
The final two rounds of the tournament will be played at Blaisdell Arena. The D-I championship game will be televised live on OC16 at 7 p.m. Saturday.
