Hui Okinawa is offering two $1,000 scholarships to students who plan to continue their post-high school education this fall.

Hui Okinawa is offering two $1,000 scholarships to students who plan to continue their post-high school education this fall.

One scholarship is for a high school graduate who plans to attend a two-year or a four-year educational institution for the first time in 2014.

The second scholarship is for a college student continuing his education or a university graduate enrolling in graduate school in 2014.

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited high school or GED Program in the State of Hawaii. Their parents or legal guardian must be a current resident of the County of Hawaii. The applicant must have an awareness and appreciation of the Okinawan culture.

Application forms for the scholarships are available at the counselor’s offices of public, private and chartered schools, adult community schools and the University of Hawaii financial aids offices at the Hawaii Community College, University of Hawaii at Hilo and West Hawaii Community College. Applications are also available through Alben Namihira (961-3443) and Margaret Torigoe (895-0994).

Deadline for both scholarships is March 31.
