The Puna Community Development Plan Action Committee is looking for input on creating new emergency routes for the district.

Several road extensions that would improve traffic flow and allow for additional exit routes during emergencies have been considered as a result of the Puna Regional Emergency Preparedness Fair on Aug. 31 at Keaau High School.

The committee is now seeking additional input before sending the list to Hawaii County Public Works.

Marlene Hapai, chair of the subcommittee on connectivity and emergency response, said surveys regarding the proposals will be mailed to subdivisions.

Completed surveys and requests for meetings can be sent to mhapai@aol.com or pintonian@gmail.com.

They can also be mailed to Patti Pinto, P.O. Box 711382, Mountain View, HI 96771.
