Cliff Masaru Nagayama, 89, died Jan. 3 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Olaa, he was a retired heavy equipment mechanic with the former Puna Sugar Co. and a member of the Church Of World Messianity (Hilo Branch) and the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Private family services were held. Survived by wife, Yukiko Nagayama of Hilo; step-sons, Garrett (Beverly) Hiraoka of Kapulena, and Len (Charmaine Nakanelua) Hiraoka of Kukuihaele; step-daughter, Charlene Shimabukuro of Hilo; brother, Dennis Nagayama of Kailua, Oahu; brother-in-laws, Samson Simeona of Oahu, and Myron Yanagihara of Oahu; sister-in-law, Rose Nagayama of Hawaii Kai, Oahu; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. James Lloyd, 68, died Dec. 24 at his home in Kohala. Born in Maui, he retired as a self-employed Mason.
