An early morning house fire in Kaumana injured two people.

According to a written Fire Department statement, seven units responded to the 4:14 a.m. alarm at a home on Uhaloa Road in Hilo. The first unit arrived at 4:25 a.m. to find the front bedroom engulfed in flames with the fire extending into the hallway outside the bedroom.

The fire in the single-story home was reported under control at 4:35 a.m. and extinguished at 4:45 a.m.

All the home’s occupants reportedly made it outside but two reported injuries and were taken to Hilo Medical Center. There was no report on their conditions, but the Hawaii chapter of the American Red Cross reported that it is assisting the family, as well as the one displaced by an early Sunday morning fire that injured an elderly couple on Opeapea Street in Hawaiian Acres.

According to county property tax records, the house is on Hawaiian Homes land.
