The 26th annual Young at Art juried student art exhibit is March 8-26 in downtown Hilo at the Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art, formerly known as East Hawaii Cultural Center. It is sponsored by the museum and the Hawaii District of the state Department of Education, and staffed by volunteers.

The 26th annual Young at Art juried student art exhibit is March 8-26 in downtown Hilo at the Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Art, formerly known as East Hawaii Cultural Center. It is sponsored by the museum and the Hawaii District of the state Department of Education, and staffed by volunteers.

Prizes will be awarded to students whose work wins jurors’ awards. The prizes are provided by donations from Hawaii individuals and businesses.

The purpose of Young at Art 2014 is to celebrate National Youth Art Month by recognizing excellence, creativity and originality of Big Island students in grades K-12 at public, charter and private schools as well as those who are home-schooled.

The Young at Art opening is 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the museum at 141 Kalakaua St. Ceremonies will include music, prizes and an opportunity for families to support their young artists as well as arts in the community.
