A 53-year-old Keaau woman was killed in a traffic collision Saturday night on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Highway 130) near the Hawaii Island Humane Society in Keaau.

A 53-year-old Keaau woman was killed in a traffic collision Saturday night on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Highway 130) near the Hawaii Island Humane Society in Keaau.

The woman, identified in a police log as Anh Tran, is the Big Island’s first traffic fatality of 2014.

The log also stated that a 56-year-old Keaau woman, Ramiro Dioning, sustained injuries in the collision.

Her condition was not known.

Few other details were available, but the crash was reported at 8:29 p.m. and police closed the highway for about two hours, re-routing traffic to Road 8 in Hawaiian Acres and Ainaloa Boulevard, while officers and Fire Department personnel were on-scene.
