A 30-year-old Keaau man police said was manufacturing a marijuana byproduct by cooking when an explosion occurred has died. Ras’I Summers was pronounced dead 5:20 p.m. Thursday at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu.

Following the Dec. 28 blast on 17th Avenue in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision, police found evidence of a lab used to manufacture butane honey oil, a marijuana byproduct. More than 100 marijuana plants also were found.

Savannah Maloof, 28, who lives in the house, was arrested but released without being charged pending further investigation. She was not home when the explosion occurred.
