Rebecca “Becky” Lahilahi Hopfe, 90, of Hilo died Oct. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kealakekua, she was retired from Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha ward. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo; memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by husband, William “Bill” Hopfe of Hilo; daughters, Laverne Boloson of Honolulu, Alice (Kevin) Gray of Hilo, Brenda Lee (Tom) Dorsey of Florida, Leila (Jason) Ryusaki of Waimea, Nora Hao of Kona and Rana Hopfe of Hilo; stepsons, William (Carol) Hopfe and Jeffrey (Laurie) Hopfe, both of Honolulu; stepdaughters, Joyce Hopfe of Nevada, Gwendolyn (Edward) Collier of Virginia and Claudette Hopfe of Honolulu; brothers-in-law, Henry (Irmgard) Hopfe of Florida, Harris Hopfe of Honolulu and Herman (Ethel) Hopfe of Kona; a great-great grandchild; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Winona “Agnes” Kaaukai Kekela, 79, of Papaikou died Sunday at home. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a homemaker and a self-employed musician and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Friends may call Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Visitation from 8-10 a.m.; Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed. Burial at Alae Cemetery (Section G). Survived by sons, Kenneth Kekela, Jr. of Papaikou, Paul (Alicia) Kekela of Hilo, Karl Kekela of Hawaiian Paradise Park and Michael (Rhonda) Kekela of Utah; daughters, Debra (Leonard) Luiz of Papaikou, Sharon Kekela of Papaikou and Julie (Allan) Kainoa of Keaau; Kenneth Kekela, Sr. of Keaau; sisters-in-law, Susan Maluo-Devera of Hilo, Carol Kekela of Hilo, Dianna Kekela of Silverdale, Wash., and Vivian Kapono of California; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Esther Kaluakini Kipapa, 53, Hilo died Sept. 29 at Pali Momi Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, she was a member of the Waipahu Aloha Club House. Visitation will be from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Kuhio Chapel in Keaukaha. Service to follow. Scattering of ashes to be announced.
