Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects who entered a Puna home late Monday night while the occupants were asleep.

At about 10:30 p.m., police received a call from a 54-year-old woman who reported that while she and her 63-year-old husband were asleep in their North Kulani Road residence, they were awakened by noises in an adjacent room. Her husband went to check and discovered three male suspects, who ran when confronted by the occupant.

The suspects ran out of the residence with two of the three suspects running toward Ihope Road. The other suspect ran toward Route 11.

Neither occupant was injured nor was anything taken from the home.

Responding officers conducted checks in the nearby area and were not able to find the suspects.

Two of the suspects were described only as being about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 while the third suspect was described only as being about 5-foot-9.

Police ask that anyone with information contact Detective Royce Serrao at 961-2272 or email rpserrao@co.hawaii.hi.us.

Those who prefer anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
