Kayla Kahauolopua, a member of Panaewa Volleyball Club, and Kiani Troy, a member of Keaukaha Cuzins Volleyball Club, recently completed a five-day training program at the University of Central Oklahoma campus which also serves as the Olympic Training Center for the USA Volleyball National Sitting Team.

The Big Island youngsters were part of the USA Volleyball Future Select National Training Program that consisted of the top 128 girls selected from throughout the United States between the ages of 11-13. They were introduced to international volleyball concepts and training as well as being trained on specific positions.

They also had the privilege of learning and playing sitting volleyball with the National Sitting Team members.

Kayla is the daughter of Natasha and Tony Lee, Jr. She plays for Panaewa VC coaches Natasha Lee and Uwao Chartrand. Kiani is the daughter of Sandy and Kahiku Troy. She plays for the Keaukaha club under Kawailele’oHi’ilawe.
