The Hilo Woman’s Club held its 92nd annual installation meeting at the Hilo Yacht Club, with Barbara Hasting of Hastings and Pleadwell installing the organization’s officers for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.

The executive board includes President Beverly Heikes, Recording Secretary Jane Boyd, Corresponding Secretary Mitzi Hennessey and Treasurer Rose Vierra. The HWC highlighted its scholarship program during the meeting. This year three recipients, Tia Nahoku Cortez, Samantha Hanabaga and Lousie Vivien Santos, will receive $1,000 each to help cover college education.

A luncheon to honor the four young ladies will be held at noon on July 23 at the HWC Clubhouse, located at 7 Lele St. in Hilo.

The HWC gave money to Hospice of Hilo, Child & Family Services, the Palace Theater, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation, Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary and the Hilo Food Basket.

The cost of membership is $25 per year.

This year the Teddy Bear Committee provided stuffed animals for Family Services Hawaii, the Pahoa Police Station and keiki along the route of the Merrie Monarch Parade.

Upcoming projects to raise funds for designated scholarships and programs include an Aloha Membership Tea on Sunday, Sept. 8, a Country Hoedown and Steak Fry from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, and a rummage and bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 23.
