The state Board of Land and Natural Resources gave its consent Friday to the sale of of Nihon Restaurant to the owner of Hilo Bay Cafe.

The state Board of Land and Natural Resources gave its consent Friday to the sale of of Nihon Restaurant to the owner of Hilo Bay Cafe.

The Hilo Trading Co., which operates Nihon, approved the sale last October.

Kim Snuggerud, owner of Hilo Bay Cafe, plans to move her restaurant to the Nihon location this fall, according to Nihon’s manager.

Snuggerud couldn’t be reached for comment.

Nihon is located on land owned by the state Department of Land and Natural Resources at 123 Lihiwai St., next to Liliuokalani Gardens.
