Warriors-Pirates are set for AJA playoffs

The Keaukaha Warriors will battle the Waiakea Pirates in a best-of-3 series to determine the 2013 Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League championship at Wong Stadium. The first game will be played at 10 a.m. Sunday; Game 2 on March 10, and if necessary, Game 3 on March 17.

The defending champion Warriors and Pirates finished the regular season with identical 5-2 records. The Corsairs finished at 1-7. The Warriors, with field manager Bo Saiki and coaches Chad Canda and Keith Aoki, will be the home team. The Pirates, with field manager Shaye Miura and coaches Onan Masaoka and Cody Urasaki, will be the visitors.

(The, Feb. 24, last regular season game between the Warriors and Pirates was canceled due to rain and will not be replayed.)

The State AJA Championships will be played at Les Murakami Stadium, April 6-7 on Oahu.

Golf benefit for Brantley is April 28

The Brantley Center, Inc. will hold its 35th annual golf tournament April 28. The entry fee is $125 per golfer and includes green fee, three mulligans, prizes and a luncheon.

There will be a chance to win a $15,000 jackpot for a hole-in-one. The format will be best-ball modified. All early registrants will be eligible to participate in an early-bird entry drawing. Early registration is up to Apri 24. The tournament be held at the Waikoloa Village Course, with check-in at 6:30 a.m. and shotgun start at 7:15 am.

Lunch will follow at the Kau Kau Depot in the village. Registration forms can be picked up at most local golf courses and can also be mailed or faxed. They are also downloadable from the website www.thebrantleycenter.org.

HGEA golf tourney

slated for March 9

The Hawaii Government Employees Association will hold a golf tournament to benefit the Charles R. Kendall Scholarship and Education Fund, which provides educational benefits to HGEA members and their immediate families.

The tournament will take place March 9 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course. Format is a three-man modified scramble, with check-in at 6 a.m. and a shotgun start at 7 a.m.

Early-bird registration by Friday is $75 per person. After Friday, registration is $80 per person ($240 per team).
