Training Areas 1-4 and 9-15 will be open for archery mammal hunting. The Keamuku parcel will be open for archery hunting of pigs and goats only. No hunting or rams or sheep allowed. All hunting areas will be open from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day; no early access is permitted. Hunters must check out by 7:30 p.m. each day.
Hunting is prohibited in Training Areas 5-8, 16-23. For the safety of military personnel and themselves, hunters should not enter these areas.
Shooting sheep with blue collars is prohibited; these sheep are part of a state Division of Forestry and Wildlife tracking program and must not be harmed.
The following gates will be open to enter and exit the hunting areas: East Saddle Road, Gates 1-10; West Saddle Road, Ahi Gate (MM 38), Gates 1-6 on the north side; Keamuku and Highway 190, Gates 2, 7, 10, 11 and 14. Please park in designated parking areas.
All hunters must check in and check out at either the Kilohana Hunter’s Check in Station located between Mile Markers 43 and 44 on Saddle Road or the Huluhulu Hunter’s Check in Station at the intersection of Mauna Kea Access Road and Saddle Road near mile marker 28.
Hunting passes will be available at both check-in stations on today after 5 p.m. Please place the pass on your vehicle dashboard when hunting. Hunting passes are only valid for Saturday and Sunday.
