Ka’u High School held a ‘Rock the Beat’ event on Tuesday night as the Trojans hosted Hilo High in a boys basketball game at the school gym. The activity was a partnership with American Heart Association and its main purpose was to help make the community aware of one of the leading causes of death in Hawaii as well as understanding and knowing the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke.

According to Ka’u athletic director Kalei Namohala, the knowledge learned from the new community awareness could help save a life. One hundred percent of money raised from ‘Rock the Beat’ T-shirts sales went to AHA.
