More than 200 fans turned out for the Jan. 4 opening of “Skin & Sky” at Wailoa Art & Cultural Center. Enjoying the reception, from left, are the featured artists: Tim Johnson, David Hubbard, Robert Weiss, Eide Hansamut, Esther Szegedy and Shelby Smith. The exhibit will be open until Jan. 24, and everyone is invited to stop by and enjoy the mixed-media exhibition of landscape, figurative and functional works that explores the multiple surfaces, textures and emotions of our physical, fantastical and spiritual worlds, said Wailoa director Codie King. Wailoa Center is a state facility at the end of Piopio Street, makai of the State Building in Hilo. Admission is free.
