Hawaii Football Club registration

The Hawaii Football Club is hold registration for the spring season for boys and girls. There is no weight restriction for the three divisions: champion (grades 3-4), junior varsity (grades 5-6) and varsity (grades 7-8).

HFC is a training club that offers league play within the club. All HFC prospects are held to a 2.5 grade-point average. The club is league affiliated with USA Football.

Warriors eke out win, stay unbeaten

Alton Penrose drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth inning last Sunday at Wong Stadium as the Keaukaha Warriors edged the Corsairs 4-3 to remain unbeaten in the Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League.

Tyler Higa-Gonsalves collected all three of the Warriors’ hits, scoring twice for Keaukaha (3-0).

Aaron Correa (2-0) worked two innings of relief, striking out three and allowing two hits.

Randall Iha was 3 for 4, including an RBI single in the fourth for the Corsairs (0-3). Robbie Meguro was 2 for 4 with a double and and RBI and Chase Komatsu was 2 for 2.

Jordan Tagawa (0-2) didn’t allow a hit in two innings, but he hit four batters and walked two with a strikeout.

Today at 10 a.m. at Wong, the Corsairs play the Pirates.

Waiakea JV softball, baseball tryouts

Waiakea High junior varsity softball tryouts start at 3 p.m. Wednesday, and JV tryouts for baseball begin at 3 p.m. Jan. 7. Both tryouts are at school’s fields.

A completed physical and parental-consent form are required to participate. JV baseball tryout forms can be picked up at the athletic director’s office.

The Hilo Ohana Horseshoe Pitchers Club Christmas get-together was held Dec. 22 at the Uncle David Calles Sr. Horseshoe Courts at Onekahakaha Beach Park. Results follow:
