Jennifer Taniguchi from Hilo attended the 2012 National 4-H Congress held Nov. 23-27 in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the highest state honor attainable by a 4-H member in recognition of significant accomplishments in the Hawaii 4-H Youth Development program.
Jennifer Taniguchi from Hilo attended the 2012 National 4-H Congress held Nov. 23-27 in Atlanta, Georgia. This is the highest state honor attainable by a 4-H member in recognition of significant accomplishments in the Hawaii 4-H Youth Development program.
“Become a Catalyst of Change” was the conference theme and brought together more than 900 outstanding 4-Hers, adult 4-H volunteer leaders and 4-H Youth Development Extension Educators from across the country and Puerto Rico.
The teens were challenged to “Become a Catalyst to Inspire Others, Become a Catalyst for Service to Others, and to Become a Catalyst and Pay It Forward.” Motivational speakers included Dan Thurmon who used a juggling as a demonstration of the power of focus; Dr. Eugen Schoenfeld, a Holocaust survivor; Miss America, Laura Kaeppeler on the power of possibilities, and Dan Clark, a New York Times Best Selling Author, songwriter/recording Artist, CEO of Clark Success Systems and primary contributing author to the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” series.
Through workshops, team building experiences, cultural programs, field trips and community service activities, the 4-Hers had an opportunity to further develop their leadership skills.
