‘Imiloa Astronomy Center is seeking junior explorers and innovators in grades K-3 for its Camp ‘Imi-POSSIBLE Winter Intersession Dec. 17-21. The week-long program will delve into “Sust-‘AINA-bility,” focusing on “the many wonders of our land that sustain life,” said coordinators.
‘Imiloa Astronomy Center is seeking junior explorers and innovators in grades K-3 for its Camp ‘Imi-POSSIBLE Winter Intersession Dec. 17-21. The week-long program will delve into “Sust-‘AINA-bility,” focusing on “the many wonders of our land that sustain life,” said coordinators.
Through engaging in hands-on activities and experiences, students will explore the amazing and unique ecosystems, resources, industries and technologies thriving in each of Hawaii Island’s moku, or land divisions.
As a tribute to the aina, the land that keeps on giving, students will also explore sustainable gifting traditions.
The final day, parents, along with keiki, will actively participate in a hoike, a celebration of new learning.
“In our winter intersession program, keiki will learn about traditional and contemporary ways of looking at our environment, as we all learn to make more sustainable choices,” said Justina Mattos, ‘Imiloa’s education resource specialist.
The camp runs from Monday through Friday, Dec. 17-21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Drop-off is available at 7:30 a.m. with pick-up by 4 p.m. Lunch and snacks are not included, so pack a snack and lunch for each child. Subaru Telescope supports the winter and spring Camp ‘Imi-POSSIBLE programs.
