The talented Hilo squad defeated Maui 13 1/2 to 10 1/2 points to capture the 12 & Under Hilo-Maui Cup Challenge held Saturday and Sunday at Hilo Municipal Golf Course. The Hilo team was represented by 9-12 year old junior golfers from the Big Island Junior Golf Association and the Maui squad by junior golfers from the Maui Junior Golf Association.

The talented Hilo squad defeated Maui 13 1/2 to 10 1/2 points to capture the 12 & Under Hilo-Maui Cup Challenge held Saturday and Sunday at Hilo Municipal Golf Course. The Hilo team was represented by 9-12 year old junior golfers from the Big Island Junior Golf Association and the Maui squad by junior golfers from the Maui Junior Golf Association.

The Hilo-Maui Cup Challenge is a two-day tournament that is similar to the Ryder Cup. Saturday’s format consisted of alternate shot and best ball and Sunday’s format was an individual match play challenge. Saturday’s best ball challenge was cancelled due to steady rainfall.

The Hilo team members include Ethan Hironaga, Dillon AhChong, Isaiah Kanno, Riku Omata, Lacey Uchida, Megan Kimata, Mari Ebersole, Tia Kualii, Pono Yanagi, Casey Kishimori, Trey Nakagawa, Cody Pinzon, Kaelyn Uchida, Jillian Mitsuda, Anne Nakamoto and Kaley Saludares. Hilo team captains were Jon Mitsuda, Tracy Yanagi, Randall Kualii and Darren AhChong.
