The Friends of Waiakea Golf Tournament will be held Nov. 3 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.

The event is two-person scramble with a 7 a.m. shotgun start and costs $200 per team (college and junior golfers are $80). Money raised will go to the Warriors’ boys and girls golf teams.

Entry fee includes cart, green fees, bento lunch, two mulligans and two greenies.

Entry forms are available at Hilo Muni and the deadline to drop them off is Nov. 1 — or until the field is full.

Kukio Blue Water

Swim set for Oct. 6

The 9th annual Kukio Blue Water Swim will be held at 8 a.m. Oct. 6.

The 1.2-mile swim at Uluweuweu Bay benefits Hui Laulima O Kekaha Kai, a group established to protect the resources at Kekaha Kai state Park in North Kona, according to a release.

The race is limited to the first 300 participants, and the $50 entry fee ($20 for participants 18 and under) is due by Oct. 4 at www.kukio.net. Checks can be made payable to Hui Laulima O Kekaha Kai. The fee includes race shirt, swim cap and brunch. Race-day registration is $60.

Gates open at 6 a.m. with check-in starting at 6:30 a.m.

Swimmers can use fins and snorkel, but they will not be considered for awards, which will be given to the top three finishers in several age groups.

Keaau seeks judo, basketball coaches

Keaau High School is accepting applications for a basketball coach and a judo coach. Anyone interested may pick up an application at the school’s main office during regular office hours.
