A Matson container parked at 235 Waianuenue Ave. in Hilo now sports a mural designed by keiki who take art classes at the Village Toy Shop, which shares the address in downtown Hilo with a Vietnamese restaurant, Yen’s Cafe.

The public is invited to a dedication ceremony for the transformed shipping container and the adjacent “Teaching Garden Park” for Let’s Grow Hilo from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.

The mural project was created under the direction of artist Hopper Sheldon.

Sam Robinson of Let’s Grow Hilo has been promoting community gardens for more than two years around downtown Hilo and will be expanding the program in the coming months, including keiki gardening classes at the toy shop. Visit www.LetsgrowHilo.com.
