The Hawaii Preparatory Academy awarded diplomas to 94 members of the class of 2012 at commencement exercises May 25 at Castle Gymnasium.

Gordon Bryson, senior class advisor and Upper School English Department chairman, gave the commencement address.

Nick Chock received the Headmaster’s Award and Phong Gia Hoang was named the Senior Scholar. Gov. Neil Abercrombie and Sen. Malama Solomon also made a special presentation to 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholar Kyle Matsuda.

During a senior awards ceremony held on May 24, the following seniors also received awards: Founder’s Award, Delaney Ross; Walter Liu ’65 Memorial Leadership Award, Nick Chock; Kevin Kitagawa ’77 Memorial Bootstrap Award, Mandi Lum; Phyllis A. Richards Theatre Arts Award, Linnea Gregg; Kona-California Scholarship, Michael (Kawohi) Schutte; Rotary Club of North Hawaii Scholarships, Tori Campbell and Nicholas Chock; Athletes of the Year, Katie Case and Keanu Yamamoto.
