Huston “Ellis” Mount, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 19 at his residence. Born in Connersville, Ind., he was a retired professor of library service at Columbia University in New York City, author, member of the Special Libraries Association and Christian Science, and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Private services will be held. Survived by his son, Paul (Carol) Mount of Matawan, N.J.; daughter, Marsha (Hans) Eckert of Kailua-Kona; one granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.

Mae Akamu, 92, of Kailua, Oahu, died Jan. 20 at her residence. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired elementary school teacher. Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Kauahaao Congregational Church in Waiohinu; celebration of life at 10 a.m. Private burial. Aloha attire and no flowers. Survived by her daughters, Shirely A. Clark of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Brenda J. Garlock (Ronald) of Kailua, Oahu; sons, Terry Akamu, Russel Akamu, Leland Akamu, all of Honolulu, and Payton (Pua) Akamu of Kapaau; sister, Mabel Kaipo of Hawaii; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Esther Soon Yo Kamoku, 84, of Hilo died Jan. 31 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a former food service manager for the Army Air Force Exchange Service. Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary’s Hilo chapel; service at 5 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by her sons, Harold “Brother” (Francine) Kamoku, Isaac “Buddy” Kamoku Jr., Edward “Ed” Kamoku and Bill “Budu” Kamoku, all of Hilo; daughters, Esther “Honey Girl” Downes of Hilo, Mary “Tita” (Michael) Clarke of San Francisco, Laura “Lala” Kamoku of Hilo, Patricia “Pattie” (Mickey) Ioane of Hilo and Coralee “Cory” (Eddie) Kalima of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Marisa White of Kailua-Kona; brother, John Young of Honolulu; sisters, Katherine (Tadashi) Udo of Hilo, and Helen Young of California and Alice George, both of Maui; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
