Violet Anna Mahi Brooks’ obituary in the Saturday, Jan. 7, edition excluded some survivors due to incomplete information provided by the family. They are: brothers, Abraham Mahi of Waimea, and Paul Mahi of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Elizabeth Halualani of Hilo, Dinah Kaikua’ana of Keaukaha, Margaret Nae’ole of Hilo, Katherine Mahi of Kona, and Phoebe Hopfe of Honolulu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joanne Michele Carvalho, 56, of Kapaau died Jan. 11 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a licensed practical nurse for Hilo Medical Center, Earl Bakken and others, and a member of the Kui’kahi Baptist Church in Kapaau. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Landmark Baptist Church in Kapaau, (54-3660 Akoni Pule Highway in Kohala); celebration of her life at 11 a.m., with luncheon to follow at the Carvalho residence in Kapaau. An urn committal will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Mauna Kea Memorial Park in Papaikou. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Survived by husband, Samuel Carvalho Sr. of Kapaau; daughters, Millicent (Keone) Glory of Kapaau and Malia Salvador (Nario Ikaika) Libron of Hawi; son, Joseph Salvador of Kapaau; step-children, Samuel (Marimar Simpliciano) Carvalho Jr., Shimmeree Carvalho (Jefferson) Bala, and Chrysti (Grant) Murai, all of Kapaau, and Sharnelle (Brandon) Santiago of Hawi; mother, Lorraine Yadao of Kapaau; brother, Paul Yadao of Kapaau; sisters, Tina Beleno of Hilo and Lynette (Martin) Ellazar of Kona; 19 grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
