The Hawaii County Council voted to accept a 20-acre lot in Hawaiian Paradise Park on Friday, bringing the large subdivision closer to having its own gathering place.
The county will use the parcel at 26th Avenue and Kaloli Drive for a community park, which the neighborhood lacks.
But, if a park master plan is not completed in two years, the land will revert back to the HPP owners association.
Also on Friday, the council voted to lease land to the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council for a botanical garden and visitor center next to Rainbow Falls.
The lease will cover 2.263 acres.
