After receiving more than 9,500 applications this year, Vibrant Hawaii is looking for partners to lead food distribution sites in Hamakua, Honoka‘a, Kailua-Kona, Kea‘au, North Hilo, North Kohala, Na‘alehu, Ocean View, Pahala, Punamakai, Puna mauka, South Hilo, South Kona, Waimea, Waikoloa and Volcano.

Community organizations, schools, churches, nonprofit organizations and informal neighborhood groups are all encouraged to apply.

Previous experience is not required. Vibrant Hawaii provides training, coordination and supplies to ensure each site operate successfully.

“We are seeing the need clearly,” Janice Ikeda, CEO of Vibrant Hawaii, said in a press release. “9,500 applications tells us that families are counting on this program. To meet that need, we need more sites — and we need leaders in every community who are willing to step forward.”

Kaukau 4 Keiki will run from the week of Monday, June 15, through Friday, July 24, providing weekly food boxes to families across Hawaii Island while school is out.

Site registration is open through Monday, April 20, at bit.ly/26sites.
