The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation announces the 2026 Summer Fun Program, which provides recreational opportunities for teens and youth at locations islandwide during summer break.
Participants can enjoy arts and crafts projects, indoor and outdoor games, sports, music, dance, special events and excursions.
Registration dates vary by program location, but some sites are currently scheduling registration appointments.

The offerings include programs for elementary-aged children who have completed kindergarten to sixth grade as well as teen programs and specialized enrichment programs.
All summer programs will be in operation Monday through Friday between June 8 and July 17, with holiday closures on June 11 and July 3.
Additionally, Parks and Rec has extended the application deadline for temporary positions working in the 2026 Summer Fun Program to April 17.
Job applications are available online at the Parks and Rec website (Summer Fun 2026 Employment Application), at the Recreation Division Office at 799 Pi‘ilani St. in Hilo, and at county gymnasiums.
