Asterio “Terry” Canda, 85, of Pahoa, died Aug. 8 at Straub Benioff Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired salesperson for Kamaaina Motors, retired U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and 4th-degree black belt Taekwondo instructor with Canda Taekwondo. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 11) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Committal services 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Ruth Canda of Pahoa; sons, Terry Canda of Pahoa and Jurgen (Sue) Canda of Keaau; daughter, Stephanie (Joshua) Lake; brother, Ronald (Valerie) Rillon of Reno, Nev.; sisters, Sandra Silvis of North Dakota and Bernadette Kelekolio of Kailua-Kona; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Lawrence Ceferino Nenio, 92, of Papaikou died Sept. 13 at home. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Korean War veteran, Civil Service aircraft mechanic who worked at Hickam Air Force Base and Travis Air Force Base, where he was a crew chief, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2333, founding member of Hui Hau‘oli Hawaiian Club, member and former commodore of Solano Yacht Club and owner of the Wahine Loke fishing boat. John Anthony Keliikuli, 65, of Kurtistown died Sept. 12 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired chef for the Pagoda Hotel in Honolulu and the former Sizzler. Michael Brian Lamarco, 64, of Holualoa died July 7 at a private care home in Keaau. Born in Northbridge, Mass. he was an auto mechanic. Private services at a later date. Survived by son, Michael (Catherine) Lamarco Jr. of Ocean View; daughter, Jennie Lamarco of Tacoma, Wash.; brothers, Ronald Lamarco and Bruce Lamarco of Holualoa; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Dennis Manuel Pedro Sr., 72, of Hilo died Sept. 22. Born in Ka‘u, he was a cowboy at Kahua Ranch, landscaper, fisherman and hunter.
