Elson Pablito Cabatu, 72, of Pepeekeo died May 26 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii County Police officer and basketball coach for HIPAL and Piopio Bears. Visitation 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday (July 3) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Liana Boyce-Cabatu of Pepeekeo; children, Alana (Julaine Keamo) Cabatu and Elena Cabatu of Hilo, Chelsey (Malu) Waltjen of Mountain View, Colby (Adrianna) Cabatu of Santa, Paula, Calif., Taylor (Jackson) Cabatu-Cootey of Waimea, Kendall Cabatu of Anchorage, Alaska; brothers, Bernardino (Julia) Cabatu of Honolulu and Jaime (Sharon) Cabatu of Pepeekeo; sisters, Virginia Pajo of Pepeekeo, Natalia Abad of Honolulu, Cecilia (Joe) Cardines of Pahoa and Raevelina Cabatu of Pepeekeo; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Robert “Bob” Kobayashi, 78, of Keaau died May 12 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Kona, he was a retired auto mechanic and U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. Private services held. Survived by wife, Ruby Kobayashi; children, Robert D. “Koby” (Rachelle) Kobayashi, Leilandra (Relan) Kobayashi, Nicholas (Tiana) Kobayashi, Asiah Kobayashi, Robbielyn (Shy) Kobayashi and Shelly (Malcolm) Valeros; siblings, Joyce Yamaguchi and Pauline Sugimoto; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Marama Mahealani Patrick, 53, of Waimea died Feb. 26 in Hilo. Born in Hana, Maui, she was a waitress at the former Tres Hombres Beach Grill. No services. Survived by partner, Steven Degele of Waimea; sister, Angela Ellis of Idaho; brothers, Ivan Estes of Pukalani, Maui, and Jayson Neumann of Ka‘u; two nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
